Inspiration behind the Design:
OK. I have a really cool story behind this one. So in mid-to-late 2020 I was wrestling with this idea that Christians can have power to raise the dead and heal this sick and all that just because they’re Christians. Before this new teaching I was listening to I thought, no surely you have to show yourself approved, and you have to be responsible etc etc. Well, one day I came to acceptance with the idea that Favour was our default starting position. Power… I wasn’t yet sure, but I had been able to sell myself on favour. There was no reason that a Christian shouldn’t have favour in my mind. Now today, I most certainly believe that to be the truth.
So on this day, I came to accept that favour was our default and I made a voice recording that same day documenting my thoughts and why favour is our default. That day was the day before my sister’s birthday in August. We were going to have a fire pit in our backyard for her birthday so it had been suggested that myself and anyone else in the fam go collect some firewood the day before, for the fire. So after that morning that I had determined that favour was my default, I walked up to the park right by our house. To paint a picture for you, the park abuts a road. From the road, the park runs long ways--- perpendicular to the road; meaning the side facing the road is the short side, and the park runs long ways against the houses on either side of it. So on the left side of this park, as you enter from the road, there is a row of trees spaced probably 20 meters apart, then in the middle of the park it’s just a large flat open field, and at the back of the park is sparse forest. So, I take the angle of walking up the left side of the park under the trees. Low and behold I get maybe 100 meters into the park, around the 5th tree, and in my path is this pile of broken sticks. Now I’m not saying it was stacked half a meter high adna half meter wide, but there was enough sticks there for it to stand out and make a pile. To me, my first thought was, Gees I hope I’m not gonna be taking someone else’s pile of firewood. It was in such a tidy pile, and there were so many sticks there it was evident that someone had gone to the effort of collecting these from around the park and putting them down here in a pile. Having just determined that I start in favour, I didn’t discount this as by accident. I knew that this was my firewood put there especially for me.
This is was just my first experience of receiving favour by faith. But obviously now, it is a conviction that I hold onto and believe dearly. And It’s absolutely something that I want to be evident in the life of all believers. Favour is our default.
