Inspiration behind the Design:
So it was within the span of only a few months (a few short weeks) and I got all of this revelation not about who we are which I gleaned mostly from Chris Blackeby, but I got all this revelation from God about who HE is. And what’s most unusual about that is that I spent my whole life in Church and never knew this to be true about who God is. So I like to split it up into three levels of Christianity. Level 1 is God the saviour. For most people, they will never reach a higher level of understanding about God other than he is the creator and saviour of the world. Think of this in a pyramid schematic – at the bottom you have the section with greatest volume. This is where the majority of the consciousness sits as it pertains to the knowledge of God. Second level you have God as King. This is not well taught in Church and you see it is not well taught by the fruit it doesn’t produce. It’s almost like people relegated God as King to Old Testament style thinking and the New Testament God is Saviour. Completely incorrect and if you do that you’re missing a massive facet of who God is. God is still King today and he rules as King whether you know it or not. And lastly at the top of the Pyramid, we see god as the Bridegroom. At the ultimate level of reality, God didn’t set out to be a saviour and he didn’t set out to be King. But what he did set out in his heart before the creation of the world, was to be a lover. He chose it in his heart to be a lover of his creation and everything he does whether it pertains to his kingship or his choice to sacrifice himself to save us, he did it because he loves us.
But this shirt is about us. I thought it would be more challenging to the consciousness to speak about who we are rather than who God is. You tell someone that God is a God, a king and a bridegroom they’ll probably roll their eyes at you and say, “big deal.” But what’s the bigger deal? God made us equal with him. Considering us to be Kings, God’s and his eternal lover. That a BIG DEAL!
