Inspiration behind the Design:
So this design hit me kinda hard back in January. I started this brand back in October, and EGK was born as a fire-starter movement, it was to win the neutral ground. It was to have a strong presence in our cities. It was to normalise Jesus and Christianity. It was about making Christianity ubiquitous and freely welcome in a hostile environment that we find ourselves in today. Well, when I started that was the plan and I started out extremely optimistic and offensive. I thought there was nothing to fear. This was such a fun, and great idea and that this was really gonna do wonders in cities. Well fast-forward to January around the time of the US election fraud and the vitriolic hate that was coming from both sides. It was at that moment I felt that the metaphoric scales had been plunged down against us, and it was huge tip towards hostility of the gospel. As I was thinking about this, and thinking of it context with my brand, suddenly I realise this went from being a fun, hospitable, see a friendly ally in the grocery store, to defensive, unity-making, and really a strong stand that we wouldn’t be moved by the hostility we faced, and we’d still be signalling our faith to others but it would be in a much more hostile context. And I’m pretty sure when I started this company back in October, God knew exactly what was coming and how invaluable this business would be in these times.
Now you may be wondering, how does this tie into the design? Simple. I want to be Love. And I will be love. And I’ll love those who bless me and I’ll love those who persecute me. And I just thought this design was a really fun, amusing way of showing that.
