Inspiration behind the Design:
This design clearly comes from the verse 1 Corinthians 6:17. I mean but how can you have 1 Corinthians 6:17 without 6:16. Or don’t you know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” 17But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with Him in spirit.
Off course you wouldn’t want to put verse 16 on a t-shirt but that is what this is all about!!! The reality of the gospel it that God created us to be our eternal lover and for us to be his eternal lover. He so badly wanted someone to love he created us for that very reason. And it’s not good enough that we should know him, he wanted to be one with us. This is Jesus’ prayer in the garden of Gethsemane before he goes to the cross. He is crying and pleading and so full of this immense longing to be one with the sons of men again. That was the joy set before him on the cross, that we would be one as Jesus and God are one! This is why we are called the bride and Go is called the Bridegroom. God framed it up for us that way. We didn’t frame it up that way. This is the fullness of the gospel that we ought to live for every day. And this is not a future promise or a future fulfillment! This was Paul’s urge to the church at the time! Take care of your bodies NOW! Because you are NOW joined to the lord as one spirit! The beautiful mystery that the church today has forgotten is that we can taste the fruit of this union every day by turning into God inside of us and communing with him in the union that we have with him.
