Inspiration behind the Design:
OK. This design started to take shape on September 3rd (9 days ago). I was listening to a UPPERROOM song called “Oh the cross” and it goes on to say, “thank you for breaking the bread of your body and spilling the wine of your blood” but I’d heard that song a million times before and this week my spirit was especially attuned to the lyrics at the end where it says “We are covered in blood”. So that was on a morning to work one day and I knew for some reason that that had hit a cord in me like it never usually did. Well that night I’m going to shop for some groceries and as I pull up into the parking garage I’m listening to another song called “I am no victim” by Kristene Dimarco just purely out of her being in a spotify playlist based on UPPERROOM. But as I park my car I hear “I’m covered in my saviour’s blood…” And if you’ve listened to this song, it’s like just light piano and the softest sweetest song you’ve ever listened to and I’m like… Hang oN! What did you just say?? Like because number 1: my spirit is attuned into this covered in blood thing for some reason and it’s the same day that I just heard that last song about being covered in blood… But secondly…. What in the hell are you doing giving me a mental picture of you covered in blood in this sweet lullaby song?!?!? I was like… How are we taking this so nonchalantly?? This is a WEIRD topic to just be singing about so willy-nilly.
And then on the fourth of September I’m listening to some Donda by Kanye and I realise he’s got a song called, “wash Us in the Blood”!!! I’m like.. Hang on! That’s like all about being covered in blood and he’s a super big celebrity and he’s just straight up going head first into the blood! This is so nuts!!!
So from that experience I knew that I had to design a shirt about literally taking blood baths and soaking up this blood of Jesus stuff if everyone else was going to be taking credit for it. And secondly I wanted to make it as JARRING as possible. Like, I want you to see it the same way that I did. I want you to take note of what I’m saying. We are COVERED in blood! Like, you need a VISUAL to see what you are actually talking about.
And blood baths are nothing new to me. God started talking to me about spiritual baths back in December of 2020. He showed me blood baths, fire baths, sound baths and light baths. I never got deep into what they all meant but God highlighted that to me back then and the culmination of what I just told you just forced my hand to come up with some great blood bath designs.
And the last thing that actually got me off sitting on my hands and actually making these designs 9 days later is that I was at a small house church gathering today and before we had lunch together, David gets up and starts blessing the food and in the middle of his grace prayer, he says, “We are covered in the blood.” I was like…. Gosh this Calvinism stuff is real…
