Inspiration behind the Design:
So this design is based on Genesis 12:3 that says – “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” This was a promise given to Abraham. It’s repeated to Abraham in Genesis 18:18 and Genesis 22:18 but when I was doing the design I found Genesis 12:3 first. So, the story behind this is; One day I was out doing a site inspection for a job we’d done in town. We had, reconfigured a street court into car parks and so, with the resumed land, we had put down new turf on the spot. When I went out there, a few weeks after the turf went down, there hadn’t been any rain for weeks. It just so happens the day I went out there it did rain. But when I got out there, all of the turf was yellow – not good. As I was out there, looking at this turf, the idea that I was a life giving spirt was going on in my head, and then an entirely new idea occurred to me that had never occurred to me ever before. “Everything that my vision touches is blessed through me.” It was the idea that, as I was looking at this dying turf, by the very fact that I was there and I was looking at it, my intention and my compassion, even my very being that was being transferred out at everything that I was looking at was receiving this blessing and life. That struck me as a really cool thought at the time. I thought going forward in life, that would be a super dope belief system to have. Of course the phrase blessed through you did bring to min the promise to Abraham, and so I was able to base that idea on that promise which I think is really cool.
I chose this picture because it's super dope and it reminded me of The Lion King where Mufasa and Simba are standing on Pride Rock and Mufasa is the so-called King of the Pridelands and from his vantage point he is overlooking everything under his dominion to see that everything is as it should be. I just think that's a great illustration of how we ought to see ourselves and see our position, stewarding the citites we live in and blessing our cities from the high places.
